This Privacy Policy describes how Disc Golf Go ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Disc Golf Go mobile application and website (discgolfgo.com).

By using Disc Golf Go, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

📋 Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you create an account and use the app:

• Account information: Email address and username chosen during registration
• GPS location: Precise location when you use the course check-in feature, to verify you are within 500 meters of a disc golf course
• Gameplay statistics: XP earned, scores, round data, course check-ins, and battle/challenge history
• Profile photo: Optional photo you choose to upload
• Device information: Standard server logs (IP address, browser/OS type) generated during normal use

We do not collect payment information, contacts, microphone data, or any other sensitive device data.

⚙️ How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to operate and improve the app:

• Account creation and authentication: Email and username identify your account and let you sign in
• Course check-ins: GPS location is used only at the moment of check-in to confirm proximity (<500m) to a disc golf course — it is not stored continuously or tracked in the background
• Leaderboards: Gameplay stats power global and regional rankings
• Battle matchmaking: Scores and stats are used to match players and resolve head-to-head battles
• Admin analytics: Aggregate usage data helps us understand app health and improve features — all tracking is server-side in our admin dashboard

🗄️ Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (a managed cloud database provider) and served from infrastructure on Render. Authentication tokens are stored in your device's localStorage.

• Data is stored on servers located in the United States
• All connections to our servers use HTTPS encryption in transit
• Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
• Authentication tokens expire and are not shared with third parties

🤝 Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

We do not use external analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or data brokers. There are no third-party tracking pixels or ad networks in the app.

The only third-party infrastructure involved is our hosting providers (Neon and Render), which process your data solely to operate the service on our behalf. They are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

⏳ Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you stop using the app, your data remains stored unless you request deletion.

To request account deletion: Email us at privacy@discgolfgo.com with the subject "Delete My Account." We will permanently delete your account, gameplay data, and any uploaded photos within 30 days.

Server access logs may be retained for up to 90 days for security purposes, after which they are deleted.

👶 Children's Privacy

Disc Golf Go is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at privacy@discgolfgo.com and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.

🔄 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Disc Golf Go after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users within the app.
